Hellenic Telecommunications and Post Commission (EETT) does not have a sufficient number of units of handheld metering equipment (receivers and spectrum analyzers) for signal measurements whose frequency exceeds 3 GHz. Over the years, the increasing development of wireless broadband landline and mobile services has resulted in greater needs for monitoring and control of bandwidth in the frequency range above 3 GHz (4G Advance, 5G, WiMAX, backbone links of mobile companies, links signal transmission of various users, wireless access systems including local radio networks (WAS / RLAN) etc.).
There is already an increase in cases of the Spectrum Supervision and Control department in which either simple spectral recording is required to determine the legitimate use of spectrum or detection of interference signals in systems operating at frequencies higher than 3 GHz. In most of the above cases, the technicians of EETT use transportable and not handheld equipment, in order to be able to carry out the necessary measurements, recordings and localizations.
The transportable equipment is very bulky and heavy so that it is often impossible to transport it to places where measurements have to be made (terraces, balconies, hard to reach places, etc.), due to the fact that its role is to replace adhoc the lack of fixed spectrum monitoring stations and not to be used as portable equipment.
It should be noted that due to the nature of the systems operating at high frequencies, measurements, especially within the residential fabric, are required to be made not at street level, but at high points where there may be visual contact with the transmitting point of the signal to be tested. It should also be noted that transportable equipment also requires a constant supply of electricity, which further limits the cases in which it can be used.
EETT issued a public tender for handheld radio monitoring and direction-find system, after both technical and commercial competition, DZH-200P won the tender against other competitors.
DZH 200P from CDDZ helped them with the problem, the supply of handheld spectrum surveillance systems helps EETT to be able to easily and quickly perform spectrum licensing parameter measurements, interference problem checks and locate them anywhere (inaccessible or not) within and not just the residential environment, with the possibility of easy transport to various parts of Greek territory.
